Explain the importance of per-capita measurements when comparing GDP between states or countries
The GDP per capita (USD PPP) in 2014 for the UK and France were similar. The UK’s GDP per capita was 39225 and France’s was 38869. However, the average number of hours worked in the UK was 1677 whereas in France it was 1473, a difference of over 200 hours annually. What might explain these differences in hours of work between these two countries?
