Explain what "independent assortment" means and then add a sketch to support your explanation.
Independent assortment is a law postulated by Mendel.
The law states that: When two independent events occur simultaneously, the combined probability of the two outcomes is equal to the product of their individual probabilitiesof occurence.
Explanation for the law:
Consider a dihybrid/trihydrib cross, in which 2 or 3 genes are being studied, respectively. These genes are segregating independently of each other. i.e. one gene character does not affect the character/ trait governed by another gene.
consider a dihybrid cross of peas for 2genes : Round/wrinkled shape and yellow/green color of peas are two independent genes.
when the following fork lined method is seen we can identify that the wrinkled/round is independently assorting from the yellow/green gene.

Explain the mechanics of independent assortment in chromosomes
Explain independent assortment in terms of chromosome behavior; how can it be disrupted?
Answer the following genetics problems. Show your work! A parent plant with alleles for colors of flower, seed, and leaf had a genotype of AaBbCc. It was crossed with the flower of genotype AaBbCc. What fraction of offspring are predicted to be homozygous recessives for at least two of the three characters? (Assume independent assortment of all gene pairs)
Random assortment of chromosomes is one of the processes by which genetic variation is generated. Explain what the process means and how new variation is produced as a consequence of random assortment.
13. What phenomenon that Mendel observed is explained by the principle of independent assortment and the principle of segregation? (Chapter 3.3)
What stages of meiosis does the law of segregation and the law of independent assortment occur?
How do key events of meiosis explain Mendel’s law of segregation and independent assortment? How did T.H Morgan’s drosophila experiment validate chromosome theory of inheritance? How did analysis of nondisjunction validate the chromosome theory of inheritance?
3. Explain the importance of the reduction division, crossing over and independent assortment Introduction Write a short paragraph complaining the purpose of Mclosis and contrast it with the purpose of Mitosis. Then give the ways in which the chromosomal movements in Melosis and Mitosis are similar, and the ways h which they are different button store locomo Mno Understanding the Reduction Division. Draw the products of the each of the two divisions below (do not worry about independent assortment or...

explain the Chromosome Theory of Inheritance. Explain how Mendal’s law of segregation and law of independent assortment relate to the above theory. How does crossing over disrupt these laws? Please use the term “linkage group” in your answer and explain how that term relates to all of the above (In own words)
