K-R-G-P stands for Lysine-Arginine-Glycine-Proline. It is a polypeptide chain containing 4 amino acids and 3 peptide bonds. For a polypeptide chain containing n amino acids, there will be (n-1) peptide bonds.

A peptide bond is a -CONH- unit, and there is resonance present. Due to the resonance (shown in diagram) this region becomes planar (shaded region).
