Customer is saying website is running slow when his end clients
are trying to access the site. Say for example this is a "Web
Server" running "Apache" and "Tomcat" at the backend. It’s the Web
Server that the customer is trying to access. They are trying to
place an order but the application is very slow to load. The server
is responding slowly to a user request.
How would you troubleshoot this scenario? What tools would you need
and how would you process this request? Say this is a high priority
ticket that you are working on.
So these kind of problems we might face while accessing the particular website concurrently by the multiple users. There may be various reasons for this issues, some of issue would be-
(a) Lack of load balancing.
(b) Slow server.
(c) specified loading time.
(d) slow Network connectivity.
(e) Traffic spikes
(f) inefficient code, memory leaks, or synchronization issues.
(g) Some database issue.
So, these are the some issue, for these reasons may our website run slow. For Fixing these issues we need to do so-
How to solve the lack of load balancing- Getting slow response might be caused by poor load distribution. when new customer assigned incorrect credentials, it can drown out your server even if the system is under capacity.
we have many load balancer tool such as NeoLoad and AppPerfect, which will help you to find infrastructure weaknesses that you may be experiencing. we need to work on a cluster of servers instead of simply having a single server that takes all the load. Also we need to provide good services to the website.
Slow Servers- If our server is slow, they could be hosted using a shared account, which means that your website is sharing thousands of other websites. you can solve this issue by checking with your hosting company to determine whether or not the site is hosted on a dedicated server. If it is not then you can request this service, but it may come at an additional price we need to reduce the loading time by using correct template for the websites, using of images, using of JavaScript, make use of CDN and install cache plugins.
slow network connectivity- Many of times the websites are slow due to the slow connectivity of internet. Due to the slow network there is decrement of transmission speed, delay in propagation. So we need to make sure internet connection should be faster.
Traffic spikes- This type of issue might occur when the company didn't prepared the extra traffic for some instant casting or promotions videos. This issues can also cause your server to slow down, hindering the performance of your site and harming your brand.
One solution for this issue is to setting up an early warning system simulated user monitoring systems such as NeoSense. Doing this it will help you when traffic is impacting transactions before users are affected negatively by the experience.
Inefficient code, memory leaks, or synchronization- We need to take care about the code while developing any API for the particular website. We need to use the new technology for the increasing the efficiency of the website. Developers should write optimal code, as well as use some automated tools such as profilers and code review for testing while development.
Databases issue- We need to design our databases as per as simple(optimize). Proper use foreign key of relationship between the tables. We need to reduce the redundancy of the databases. We need to normalize the databases by using various normalizations techniques. Try to use Cloud services for increasing the efficiency.
Some others techniques by which we can speed up our websites-
1) Minimize of HTTP requests.
2) Using of HTTP keep-Alive.
3) Optimize of Images.
4) Disable Hotlinking.
5) Use of reliable CMS.

Jack Adam’s mind wandered as he sat outside Bill Squire’s office awaiting his yearly performance review… [Jack thinking.] Well, it’s 8:25. Five more minutes to go. Fifteen years with the company, and this new district manager, Squire, couldn’t even call and request this meeting personally. These annual performance appraisals are tough enough, and here I’ve got a bad sales record for the past 12 months. Surely he’ll be able to understand that the sales decreases were a result of the...
