Cytochrome c oxidase is a part of Complex IV in electron transport chain (ETC) which is located in the inner mitochondrial membrane. The enzyme catalyzes the transfer of electrons from the reduced form of cytochrome c to molecular oxygen. ETC is involved in the production of energy in the form of ATP. Cytochrome c oxidase activity will be almost zero in debris of leaf as energy is not produced in the dead cells. Thus cytochrome c oxidase activity is more in mitochondria than in nuclei and debris in a leaf.
