When we hold our breath for long time ,the cells become oxygen deficient. when we start breathing the body rapidly tries to make up for this deficiency .Heart pump faster than normal. During breathing oxygen inhaled and carbon dioxide exhaled.So when we stop breathing carbon dioxide is not excreted out of body. Its level increase in our body. It response to bicarbonate buffer system. It start forming bicarbonate and hydrogen ion. When hydrogen ion concentration increases ,the blood pH level decrease. So holding breath for long time decrease pH of blood. When we start breathing again,increase heart rate lead to drop in CO2 level. Amd pH is also increase to normal.
