Vascular Spasm: involves Vasoconstriction. Vascular smooth muscle cells produce vasoconstriction which is the first response to the injury.
Platelet Plug Flow: The second stage in homeostasis; involves degranulation and serotonin, ADP and Thromboxane A2. Post vasoconstriction, platelet plug is formed by platelets attached to injured endothelium, which then degranulate through thromboregulation. In this stage when platelets are activated, platelets release ADP, serotonin and thromboxane A2.
Coagulation: the Last stage of homeostasis, involves the conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin. After a platelet plug is formed coagulation cascade leads to the formation of fibrin mesh from fibrinogen. This ultimately finishes the homeostasis of healing wounds.
