Please describe a current conflict (at your workplace, in the news, etc.). How could Interest Based Bargaining techniques be used to resolve that particular conflict?

One of the current conflicts in our workplace is the conflict between the subordinates and the manager. The manager thinks that team members are not working to their potential which is affecting his promotion opportunities and team members think that they are not paid enough for their performance. Hence the members are not ready to extent their work and the manager is not ready to listen to the employees. The lack of cooperation between the two has led to many issues in my workplace. In my opinion, interest based bargaining technique can be used to solve this conflict where the common interests are given importance and the negotiation leads to fair and mutually agreeable outcomes. Both the groups should sit together and discuss their issues. The manager should understand the employee concerns regarding their pay rise and agree to increase the same if the employees perform well and achieve a good result. The employees also should agree to perform well to get the reward. This way, the interest of both the parties would be satisfied because the manager can ensure better team performance and get promotion by impressing the top management and the team members can get a salary hike by performing well.
