Blackberry was one of the most important mobile phone companies that dominated the business world with its stand-alone operating system that provided reliable and efficient service that businesses needed at that point of time. It was thought to dominate the world but there were other companies such as Apple that took over Blackberry and caused not only its decline but also would cause its extinction. Although it was nicknamed as Crackberry by Webster became a Slackberry as it's almost out of competition losing nearly 75 percentage of its market price. One of the most important reasons was that it designed Blackberry only for the businesses and thought it could reach the ordinary people but it failed due to the other companies that provided more user-friendly phones. Secondly, it failed to update its operating system in the competitive market thus lost touch with reality. It forced it to become out of date thus, other mobile phones took over the market. As the world is changing, people look for more user friendly and cost-effective devices that would meet their personal and professional needs. Sadly, Blackberry failed in all respects.

This article discusses about the rise and fall of Blackberry phone that was designed for businesses. Although Blackberry remained a mighty empire in the world of mobile phones and captured maximum market share, it started losing its empire within a time span of five years during which companies such as Apple took over the mobile phone market and revolutionized it causing the decline perhaps the extinction of it. One of the most important reasons given for the downfall of Blackberry is that it’s miscalculation about reaching the ordinary people through business usage but it backfired as many other companies started making phones that were relevant to the common public. Secondly, it never updated its operating system as time changed in order to make it more user friendly which other companies did in terms of simplicity and cost-effective. Can we relate the rise and fall of Blackberry to the product life cycle in which products are introduced, reach its peak and then decline?
