  • Artificially acquired active immunity-When the immunity develops as the result of vaccination or immunization. Specially engineered, attenuated antigens are introduced in body for the formation of memory cells and the production of antibodies. It also provides long term immunity. For example- Polio vaccination, BCG vaccination
  • Natural acquired passive immunity- When the immunity is due to direct antibodies transfer naturally. For example-transfer of antibodies to the fetus from the mother through the placenta. Short term immunity, till the antibodies, is present.
  • Artificially acquired passive immunity: When the immunity is due to passively injecting the pre-formed antibody molecules into the body, For example- Antivenom serum.
