Answer #1

Dominance is the result of the interaction of alleles in the same locus, this is also called allelic genes or allelic interactions. On the other hand, result of interaction of alleles on different locus is called epistasis.

Dominance also depends on the level of phenotype being examined. When one characteristic of phenotype were crossed, the resulting offspring contained that phenotypic characteristic. When two different phenotypes were crossed, resulting offspring showed only one phenotypic characteristic. This indicates the dominance depending on phenotypic characteristics.

Dominance does not makes recessive alleles to be less frequent in a population. Althoughdominance effect masks over the recessive one, this doesn't mean recessive gene will be less frequent. That dominant characteristic is compared with the recessive one and with that respect it appears less frequent. But if two recessive characteristics are crossed, the recessive characteristic will be dominating. So, this is not the characteristic of dominance.

Dominance does not alter the way in which genes are inherited because if both parents have recessive characteristics, the offspring will inherit the recessive characteristics, it cannot inherit its opposite dominant genes. If one parent has recessive trait and other one has dominant one, majority of time offspring will have dominant trait, but it can inherit recessive trait too. So, in this way dominance does not alter the genes that are being inherited.

So, the correct answer is c

On the island of Notion, in the Factotum Archipelago, there lives a population of pencil bears. A portion of these bears have silky fur, and as a result, are much better surfers. The texture of the fur is determined by a single autosomal locus with two alleles: S (trait allele) and s (wild type allele). In a recent study, researched collected the values in the following table: Table 1. Counts of Pencil Bear fur style by genotype Phenotype Genotype Silky...
