Sociotechnical systems theory helps us to see that both technology and people must be considered in relationships and at work. Organizations need to recognize that if strong, healthy work relationships are to be built and maintained, development of emotional intelligence competencies in their people is critical. This is especially important considering the argument that the rise of technology leads to the decline of face-to-face interpersonal experiences and skills.

1. Make a list of the five to eight Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) that you rely on the most in order of importance to your day-to-day functioning.

2. Identify three ways that each ICT helps promote emotional intelligence.

ANSWER 1 :

The list of communication and technology on which i mostly rely on in the order of importance to your day to day functioning are as follows-

  1. Television- The most important source of information as well as entertainment on which my day to day functioning depends on is my Android smart TV which have a daily routines to share the news fro all round the world as well as of the share market situation and on the other hand its smart features keeps me entertaining all throughout my day.
  2. Laptop- Another important communication technology on which i depend for my day to day working i.e Laptop serves as a great source through which i perform the task as a freelancer job on which my monthly earning depends on and serves as a sources of my income.
  3. Internet- This is another important sources of information technology without which their is no use of the laptop with the help of internet my smart TV , laptop and phone functions all throughout the day.
  4. I Phone- My I phone perform another important day to day function of ,my routine i.e the calling function which can't be done with any other information technology source.
  5. Social media / Facebook This source of communication technology helps me to connect with the people with the daily interaction is not possible by chatting with them or through video calling features which again requires the internet service

ICT helps promote emotional intelligence in following ways

  • More and widespread connection with people is possible through ICTs and this has increased the amount of exposure received by individuals
  • Sharing, reading, listening and seeing people with their experiences developes strong character in an individuals
  • Globalization has made it possible to use the same technology between countries that one again increases the exposure and instills confidence of people of one country towards people of the other country.
