Transformative learning pedagogy is quite different from the traditional classroom learning or teacher-centered pedagogy. In a teacher-centered pedagogy, the overall course is run by the teacher and there is hardly any discussion. In a transformative learning pedagogy, there is active interaction between the teacher and learners. The overall course is imparted in discussion format. This change from teacher centered pedagogy to transformative learning pedagogy has happened to accommodate the changing needs of the learners. The learner group, in current scenario, are mostly millennials or Gen Z. These learners like to have discussion based course intervention. Instead of just the teacher speaking and sharing information, the millennials and Gen Z like to have an active participation of entire class. This type of active discussion and engagement enhances their overall rate of learning and comprehension. Hence to accommodate the adult learners, transformative learning pedagogy can prove to be quite fruitful.
A practitioner or teacher may not want to move to a transformative learning pedagogy. This may be because the transformative learning pedagogy is heavy discussion based and hence, the practitioner will be required to do heavy research and be prepared for an interactive learning session. This may become quite taxing for the practitioner and hence he or she may be hesitant for the transformation.
