I would just like to point out (cause I know someone is gonna try this if I don't mention it), this is NOT problem 9.48 from the textbook. You will likely find a problem similar to this, but it is different. Please do NOT post the solution to problem 9.48.
Line size = 128 Bytes -> Block Offset = log 128 =7 bits.
16-way set associative means, total #of block inside each set = 16
Therefore total # of set inside cache = total # of block /16
= 64*1024/16 = 4*1024 = 4K
Therefore set Index bits = log 4K = 12 bits.
Therefore tag bits = 64 - (12+7) = 64 - 19 = 45 bits.
| Tag(45 bits) | SetIndex(12 bits) | BlockOffset ( 7 bits) |

10. A 64 K cache has lines that are 128 bytes long, and is 4-way set associative. The cache is in a computer with a 32-bit address. Answer the following questions: A) How many lines are in the cache? B) How many sets are in the cache? C) How many tags are in the cache? D) How big is each tag? E) If the cache uses an LRU replacement algorithm, how many extra bits will be required to keep track...
Part I Consider a computer that you have used or now use. (You may make an assumption on word size if needed.) How large is the memory of the computer? How long is a word in the computer above? How many bits are required to address the bytes in that memory? How many data lines are required to read data from the computer memory? Part II Does your computer have cache? If so how big is it? How does your...
If I have a problem set like so: Below is a list of 64-bit memory address references, given as word addresses. 3, 180, 43, 2, 191, 88, 190, 14, 181, 44, 186, 253 5.2.1 BLOCK SIZE: 1 word CACHE SIZE: 16 1-word blocks a) For each of these references, identify the binary address, the tag, and the index given a direct-mapped cache with 16 one-word blocks. Also list if each reference is a hit or a miss, assuming the cache...
A short program loop goes through a 16 kB array one word at a time, reads a number from the array, adds a random number, and stores the result in the corresponding entry in another array that is located in the memory immediately following the first array. An outer loop repeats the above operation 100 times. The 64-bit processor, operating at a clock frequency of 4 GHz, is pipelined, has 48 address lines, three levels of caches with a 64...

For the preparation and standardization of NaOH with KHP im supposed to boil water for 1hr and 30 min to remove CO2....the problem is that if I don't boil it for that long and (30 min) b/c of not enough time but I put the water I boiled for 1/2 hr aproximately into a NaOH bottle with a CO2 absorber and stored it there for a few days. I would assume that I would have to boil the water again...but...
