Answer:
The two recent development that has actually created the interest to study organizational behavior are as below:
a. Due to the impact of COVID-19 my organization was forced to lay-off 10% of the employees and this decision of lay-off has created low morale in the existing employees and their level of motivation has also gone down.
b. Some of the team in my organizations given the situation of layoff and all the disturbance going around them, have actually improved their productivity and they have been completing all the assigned project work on time.
Now, these two reasons have compelled me to understand these different types of behavior being shown by the team members and how does it is impacting their individual behavior and performance level. I want to understand what motivates and what demotivates the employees in the organizational setup. Under such a difficult situation how to manage employee behavior and the related impact on the performance. What are the actions of the organization or the management which can help in rebooting the motivation and employee morale and tide over these difficult time? I think studying organizational behavior would help me find the answers to these questions.
