Ans. (9) The following are foundation species :-

(i) Kelp

(ii) the mussel, Mytilus californianus.

(iii) seagrass

(iv) coral.

A foundation species refers to any species that has a large contribution towards creating and maintaining habitats that support other species.

Coral is the foundation species of coral reef ecosystems.

Ans. (10) The organisms which are associated with increase in diversity are :-

(Sea urchin ; sea otter ; coral ; sunflower star , Pycnopodia ; kelp ).

Coral reefs have high levels of biodiversity because of their abundant microhabitats, high level of nutrients etc.
