Stoichiometry states that the amounts of substances involved in the reactions. It determines the ratio of how much of the amount we require and how much of the amount would be produced, simply it just tells all about numbers. Some fundamental laws like the law of conservation of mass, law of definite proportions, and law of multiple proportions help to understand stoichiometry. Consider a chemical reaction, the number of atoms on the reactant side must be equal to the number of atoms of an element on the product side. Here, we noticed that whether all atoms involved in the reaction or not is not affected on the stoichiometry which just count the number or equality of coefficients on both sides of the reaction. For example, consider the following unbalanced equation: N2 +H 2 NH3 In the reaction, two N atoms and two H atoms are present on reactant side and only one N atom and three H atoms present on product side. Using stoichiometry to balance this equation by adding suitable coefficients wherever necessary. Therefore, N2 + 3H22NH Here, the number of atoms on reactant side and product side are same. That means the equation is balanced.
