When I add these numbers I get 0.2179..
My question is how did they get 4.588.
Please show math to help me see how they got this number
You have said that you have understood that to get the minimum resistance you need to connect them parallelly. So I would do only the calculation part.

As you can see, 0.2179 is the value of the inverse of Req . So we need to invert 0.2179 to get the value of Req .
