PROJECT CHARTER
A Project Charter is a central document that defines the fundamental information about a project and is used to authorize it.
Key components in the Project Charter Template
Context / Issues: It defines the Project Purpose, Scope and key deliverable of the Project and describes what problem it solves. (What is the issue and why is it important to tackle now? What is the purpose, the business reason for choosing this project? what performance measure needs to improve? when did the problem start? where is the problem occurring?what is the magnitude of the problem?)
Goals: It describes what goals you are going to achieve and when.(
Scope: What products, Service or result do you expect to get from this project? What actions will your team take to undertake the project.
Team Members: Team leaders and team members names
Customer Requirements: What do customer expect and require from the process? what are their quality requirements? what legal requirements govern the process?
Customers/ Stakeholders: Make a list of people involved in your project like Sponsor, Client and team members.
Project Milestones: Establish significant dates of your Project like start date, end date, invoicing dates and these dates are merely guesses because when writing the charter you don't have firm dates yet.
Project Budget: Make a note of the main Project expenses, treat them as rough estimations.
Vision of Success:What outcomes or results do you want to see? What does success look like for our Customer? What does success look like for other stakeholders?
