Answer #1

The kinesin help in the transport of material from cell interior to the cell membrane and dynein transports material from cell exterior to the cell interior along the microtubule. Hence if there is a genetic defect in the kinesin and dynein then there will be no transport inside the cell along the microtubule and hence there will be no movement inside the cell.

If you have any query kindly comment before giving thumbs up. Thank you.

The probability of a randomly selected adult having a particular genetic defect is 0.02. Suppose that a diagnostic test is available and that the probability an adult who has the genetic defect tests positive is 0.97. There is a small probability, 0.01, that a person who does not have this genetic defect will test positive. What is the probability that a randomly selected adult does not have the genetic defect, given the test was positive?

Explain why two genes 50 or more map units apart on a genetic map can only result in a maximum of 50% recombinant gametes in two point cross. To answer this, ask yourself what percentage of recombinant gametes would result if the probability of crossing over in a tetrad involving these genes were 100%, as it would be if the two genes are 50 or more map units apart.

QUESTION 32 The genetic code was deciphered in part by experiments in which synthetic polynucleotides were used as mRNAs to direct protein synthesis in cell-free extracts (in-vitro system). In the test tube, artificial conditions were used that allowed ribosomes to start protein synthesis anywhere on an RNA molecule, without the need of a translation start codon, as required in a living cell. What type(s) of polypeptides would you expect to be synthesized if the polynucleotide 5'- CAUCAUCAUCAUCAUCAUC...-3' were used as...

QUESTION 60 0.33334 points (E "Sickle cell anemia is produced by a genetic defect in the amino acid sequence of hemoglobin. Persons who are homozygous for this allele have abnormal red blood cells, which characterize the disease. The blood cells of heterozygous persons appear normal and they are considered carriers. A test reveals that a man is heterozygous for the sickle cell allele but his wife is homozygous normal. What is the probability of their children will be carriers of...
