Lacking compassion towards others’ issues and feelings are common with most of the human beings depending on the situations. Two of the most important causes for lack of compassion being selfishness and ignorance. Below is how these causes would impact the individual -
Selfishness
Selfishness is the concern about oneself and doing things for one’s own advantage or pleasure without thinking of others’ feelings. Every individual works towards individual development and has a family or close relationships that they own the responsibility of. This makes him/her to pursue own interests rather than helping others or being compassionate. Hence, being selfish is a part of an individual's life and sometimes being too selfish would cause the individual to lack compassion for others.
Ignorance
Individuals are so busy with their personal and professional lives that most of the times, they ignore the issues of others and lack compassion towards their feelings. In some situations, it is the fear of responsibilities that makes an individual ignore the issues of others.
