2. How is the Clean Water & Sanitation in the world?
Water is the need of the day. Access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation are vital for health. But its saddening to know that the quality of drinking water is decreasing with the expansion of industries, use of pesticides in agriculture sector. Because of this the world is witnessing number of fatal diseases due to the consumption of contaminated water.
According to a WHO report, in 2017, 71% of the world population managed to have safe drinking water. 785 million people lack even a basic drinking-water service, including 144 million people who are dependent on surface water.
Today more and more countries are witnessing ground water scarcity, or have to use contaminated water. The poor quality of water is affecting the economy of most of the countries. We need to work together to reduce the usage of those particles which are hazardous.
According to WHO, only 45% of the global population used a safely managed sanitation service. Proper sanitation means not only to have toilet and good sewerage system but to have them used to in a productive way. What we do, we simply put the excreta into water bodies, by which our water bodies get polluted and contaminated.
