Answer #1

a. The plateau phase is maintained by open calcium and potassium channels

b. Repolarization is contributed to by opening of potassium channels and closing of calcium channels.

After a delay, termination of the action potential then occurs, as potassium channels open, allowing K+ to leave the cell and causing the membrane potential to return to negative, this is known as repolarization

c. Depolarization includes open sodium channels and opening of potassium channels

After a cell has been depolarized, it undergoes one final change in internal charge. Following depolarization, the voltage-gated sodium ion channels that had been open while the cell was undergoing depolarization close again. The increased positive charge within the cell now causes the potassium channels to open.
