What is the approximate isoelectric point of the peptide:
Methionine-Histidine-Threonine-Aspartate
pKa’s:
Methionine: 2.3, 9.2
Histidine: 1.8, 9.3, 6.0 (R-group)
Threonine: 2.1, 9.6
Aspartate: 1.9, 9.6, 3.7 (R-group)
Group of answer choices
9.4
2.8
7.6
4.8
1.6
Isoelectric pH means pH at which the peptide will have no net charge .
It will be pH 4.8 because at this pH pka of acidic group less than 4.8 will be negative by releasing H+ and pka more than it will be positive by accepting H+.
And here N terminal amino acid methionine has pka 2.3 and aspartate c terminal pka is 9.6.so pH will be in between them so that one POSITIVE and one negative charge and thus net charge becomes zero.
Here is two side chain one is amino present in histidine and one in acidic in aspartate.
So pH should also be in between them to make one acidic negative charge and one amino group positive charge .
So the pH should be in between 3 u and 6 which is 4.8.
Thank you

11.38 Building a multiple linear regression model. Let’s now build a model to predict the life-satisfaction score, LSI. (a) Consider a simple linear regression using GINI as the explanatory variable. Run the regression and summarize the results. Be sure to check assumptions. (b) Now consider a model using GINI and LIFE. Run the multiple regression and summarize the results. Again be sure to check assumptions. (c) Now consider a model using GINI, LIFE, and DEMOCRACY. Run the multiple regression and...

Census data was collected on the 50 states and Washington, D.C. We are interested in determining whether average lifespan (LIFE) is related to the ratio of males to females in percent (MALE), birth rate per 1,000 people (BIRTH), divorce rate per 1,000 people (DIVO), number of hospital beds per 100,000 people (BEDS), percentage of population 25 years or older having completed 16 years of school (EDUC) and per capita income (INCO). A MLR model has LIFE (y) as the response...
We consider a multiple linear regression model with LIFE (y) as
the response variable, and MALE (x1), BIRTH (x2), DIVO (x3), BEDS
(x4), EDUC (x5), and INCO (x6), as predictors.
