Answer #1

a) Assuming the same JVM , the object reference for different objects does not differ. Because object reference is just a compressed pointer telling us that we have an object of this data type which is still not allocated any memory yet. So as this object is not live , it does not depends on the datatype anymore and hence the memory is not dependent on the type of object it is pointing to .

b) Assuming the same JVM, the amount of memory taken up by the object itself is highly dependent on what kind of object it is. Because each object in the a machine has different size allocated to it , and hence based on what kind of object you are declaring , the size of the object depends a lot on what data type you are declaring it for. for ex .int has 4 bytes , char has 1 byte ,string size depends on the no of character its holding and so on

c) When we talk about object reference , we are talking about a virtual reference to a datatype which has still not been allocated some memory. Hence it's clear that it does not depend on what type of data it is pointing to , but the memory allocation depends on what is architechture of the machine and which JVM you are using . and hence the memory allocation will differ based on which JVM you are using.
