Hunger is a global issue which needs to be immediately addressed. Given the immense stride in the agricultural research and the economical rise of the countries across the globe, the problem of food security still looms large. The global organisations like the World Health Organisation and the UN and its agencies are monitoring and taking necessary steps to mitigate the situation. Natural and man-made disasters which have been on the rise lately has seen impoverished section of society suffer from acute hunger and malnutrition. Children and women are the worst sufferers. Some of the necessary steps taken by the government are supply of subsidised food, agricultural support to the farmers, promotion of local farming and family farming among others. However, issues like consumption of animal based product are not acceptable by some section of the society based on the religious grounds. Similarly, consumption of insects is suggested as an alternative which has not been readily accepted by the people.
