Answer #1

Please find the explanation and detailed steps to understand the given program.

Note: I have added screen shots and comments in the program for better understanding

Step 1: Its a cool functionality present in Scanner to get user input from console, text files etc

Step 2: Read an integer

Step 3: Inside the while loop again read the next integer before checking whether its negative and adding it to sum variable
       Hence we always skip the first input from user without doing any validation to it

Step 4: From second print the value present in the sum after checking whether its negative or not. If negative, increment the negative count and add it to sum variable.

Step 5: When ever in the while loop, if user Enters integer 0, the while loop gets terminated (will ask input from user hereafter) and print the count of negative vales and the Total sum except the first value.

Thats the reason we accept only 2,3,4,-5 and ignore the values from 0 user input and also the first value 1.

Answer

Hence the output of this program is 4

Sample Run output:

Enter n:
1
2
sum = 2
3
sum = 5
4
sum = 9
-5
sum = 4
0
sum = 4
#of negatives: 1   Total = 4

Screen Shot with comments:

1 import java.util.Scanner; 2 public class Main 3-{ public static void main(String args) int n, neg_count =0, sum=0; Scanner

Enter n: sum = 2 3 sum = 5 sum = 9 -5 sum = 4 sum = 4 #of negatives: 1 Total = 4
