You are a 45-year-old passenger airline pilot whose take-home pay will drop by 15 percent and whose health insurance will increase by 20 percent due to budget cuts. Although you are making more than six figures a year, you feel that being asked to pay for things that can't be controlled is unfair.
You are an airline executive who will defend the airline's position. Include your recommended resolution, and why.
you first impulse of what to do in this situation may be best course or not. Instead of follow the instruction of the airlines you should check for best possibilities. And negotiate for best possible solution.
As a pilot of airlines, first you have read all instruction and new policies carefully. You should also demand for new pay scale if they have revised you pay scale with deduction details. And you have to justify your reasons whatever it can be. You can claim to your supervisor why there is cut in slary? you can suggest mangement to use other resources to balance budget. You will aware to your supervisor that this drop in salary will demotivate all employees of organization. Due to effect of this drop in salary can affect the performace of employee which impact the airlines performance. It can be harmfull for our organization.
You will realize to your supervisor, that he should inform to all employees atleast before sometimes that all employees should have some time to prepare yourself.
Recommendation: First you have demand for organization for same take home salary as your are receiving now. If the management is not agree with your terms and condition. You should negotiate with top management. If there is actually financial crisis in organization,as of now you should work with your organization.
As a Airlines Executive, You should be more diplomatic as much as possible rather than taking a defensive position. of course these strategies require you communication team to proving the value of efforts.Airlines position should be defended by the board of directors and their team of the organization. You should take you organization employee in confidence and your attitude should be more positive as all employee feel that they have bright future in this organization ahead. You should also announcement for some extra benefits , perks and incentive in future for employee to overcome this crisis situation. These benefits should be in favour of organization which should not impact the financial position of organization.
Recommendation: As a executive you should convence to top mangement if possible, not to drop the home pay of employees. You should give some suggestion to management that they can recover from financial crisis. Positive result will be favour of employee.
