9. Carrying capacity , denoted as k is the maximum number of individual a population can contain.

Human population is reaching its k and is very near from its carrying capacity.The two signs are -

a. Human population is growing day by day and it is very fast.Global climate change , mass extinction , overexploitation of our global commons have altered our natuaral landscape.Our growing population rising with affluences and per capita impact driving our planet to the edge.

b. Our ecological footprints are getting faded.Ecological footprint is a measurement of the anthropogic impact on earth.It tracks how much biocapacity there is and how much biological capacity people use by comparaing the rate at which we consume natural resources and generate waste to the planet's ability to replenish those resources and absorb waste.

Two characteristics of a slow growth rate population are as follows -

a. Low birth rate - Due to good family planning , access to birth control ,financial planning , education etc.

b. Low death rate - Due to good medical care , nutrition , hospitalisation etc.
