Open-mindedness: Open-mindedness is a characteristics of a person that is related to the tendency to accept new ideas and willingness to look for proof against religious, social, and political beliefs or values. Open-minded people always review all the existing beliefs present in a society. Open-minded individuals have tendency to listen and actively consider alternative viewpoints.
Curiosity is related to open-mindedness. Curiosity is necessary for open-mindedness. When someone is curious about any idea or belief, he will review various aspects related to that. Then because of open-mindedness, he would accept that belief or idea. According to Todd B. Kashdan, lack of curiosity increases stereotyping that lead to hatred and even violence in extreme levels. Lack of curiosity can be cause for discrimination. It increases overconfidence and ignorance that leads to poor decision making capacity.
