Effect of Crater
Craters are special type of defect where impact type structure is
formed. In this type of defect, the surface looks like circular
cavities are removed from the top surface by using some chipping
material.
Due to the presence of crater on the surface of the material and
machine, the smoothness of the surface degenerates which leads to
rough surfaces ultimately. And. this formation of craters sometimes
may even lead to reduced strength of the material and a reduced
lifetime as well.
Effect of Depletion:
Alloy Depletion is a type of metal which occurs in a span of time
after the material is being employed for a specific task. In this
type of defect, the alloy used in metal to provide specific
attributes to the metal being exposed to external or some internal
factors in due time starts depleting.
Due to this time-dependent phenomenon. the portions where alloy
starts depleting some depressions can be observed on the surface of
the metal. This reduces the surface finish of the metal and hence
ultimately makes the surface rough.
Effect of Cracks:
Cracks are defined as hair-like structure formed on the surface and
inside the surface due to multiple reasons. The cracks may be
developed due to excessive loading, exceeding bending stress, shear
stress and even they can be time-dependent occurrence of cracks as
well.
Due to the presence of cracks on the surface of the material, the
ultimate strength of the material is effected to a greater extent
as the material suffers a major reduction in the ultimate strength
of the material which results in the failure of material much
before than the estimated or expected failure. When the cracks are
inside the material they do not affect the surface integrity of the
material. But. when the cracks are open to the surface of the
material, then they reduce the uniform smoothness of the surface
and increases the roughness of the surface.
Effect of Hardness:
The defect which occurs due to improper conditions required for the
metal to be solidified is known as the hardness change. In this
type of defect, the hardness of the metal which is supposed to be
uniform is found out to be non-uniform. Different level of hardness
of the metal is found at different points of the metal.
Due to the presence of hardness change in the object, the surface
of the object may degenerate at some specific places
where hardness does not meet up the requirements to cope up with
the applied load. This degeneration of the surface and metal lead
to rough surface and defects like crater and cracks are observed on
the surface of the metal.
Effect of Solidified Material
The defect which occurs due to non-uniform solidification of the
metal is known as the solidified metal defect.
Due to the presence of this defect, the surface of the metal with
metal solidified defect appears to be bulged out due to improper
solidification. This, in turn, reduces the surface smoothness of
the material and make it less acceptable to be employed for various
applications.

RIS BOHNET THINKS firms are wasting their money on diversity training. The problem is, most programs just don’t work.
