Sol: Given data L=40cm = 0.4m Q=25microC = 25x10^-6C and q=10microC = 10x10^-6C

Here force due to +Q and -Q will be equal suppose it is F then

F=k\frac{Qq}{L^{2}}=9\times 10^{9}\times \frac{25\times10^{-6}\times 10\times 10^{-6}}{0.4^{2}}=14.0625N

Now net force on q is given as-

F_{net}=\sqrt{F^{2}+F^{2}}=\sqrt{2}\times F=\sqrt{2}\times 14.0625 \times 10^{7}=19.9 N

Hence option a is closer.
