Conflict is handled in project management by weighing the pros and cons of the reasons for conflicts. Some conflicts can lead to reasons giving insight to a problem and sharing of the opinions from the team members who are part of the project and their perceptions are important to understand to guide them and motivate for their tasks and goal accomplishment.
Suggestions for conflict management is that it should be done in a positive way and with clarity of goals and roles of the persons involved in the conflict. Communication should be open for conflict resolution so that the members get chance to share their experiences and reasons on important issues. It is important to give attention to reason for conflict and monitor the outcome of the conflict so that it doesn't negatively impact work and workplace environment. It is effective when the members are aware of their roles and responsibilities, committed to work and their are clear rules and policies so that the conflict is resolved within the given framework.
Two conflict resolution methods are avoiding and compromising. These conflict resolution methods are used when both parties either want to focus on more important issues or find a temporary solution to the conflict resolution. Avoiding is not participating in the conflict resolution and there are less hope for resolving the conflict in a satisfactory manner. Compromising is done by the parties when they are not able to find a long term solution and want to close the conflict by finding a solution that is intermediatory relief or when they don't think that they lose or gain anything more from the conflict. These two approaches are weaker than collaboration approach that allows the stakeholders to participate and voice their concerns in conflict resolution to find a solution that is more appealing and beneficial for them.
