A manufacturer of an accelerometer reports a sensitivity of 30 mVpp/G at 100 Hz. The same accelerometer was again calibrated and the sensitivity was determined to be 10.6 mV/G at 100 Hz. What is the most probable source of error for the sensitivity differences?

This type of error mainly caused due to scale factor. It remains proportionally constant between actual and measured value. Scale factor for positive accelaration is different from negative accelaration, the value of which is predetermined. Sensitivity difference at same frequency is caused due to the torque rebalance loop in the accelarometer and to minimize these the values of two scale factors must be known.
