The vagina is lined with stratified squamous epithelium and more easily resists physical wear than the uterus, lined with simple columnar epithelium.

The walls of uterus would resist physical bear better tbecause uterus is made up of three layers whereas other one is made up of 2 layers. Secondly , uterus is the structure which holds developing baby for 9 months and is capable of undergoing large changes during the pregnancy.
