Claws are the pointed appendages made of keratin, whose main purpose is to provide grip over the surface. Claws are the important structural features that allow the lizards to climb over the vertical surfaces as well as horizontal surfaces. Lizards with the claws can better allow them to escape from the predators and also better hunt the preys. As the presence of claws increased the survival fitness, the natural selection favoured the evolution of lizards with claws from the lizards without claws.
