A strip of UD composite laminate is 25mm wide x 1mm thick. The Vf = 0.6.
Calculate the tensile failure load of this material using the simple rule of mixtures expressions. The properties of the constituent materials are:
Ef = 300GPa
σf = 3000MPa
Em = 3GPa
σm = 60MPa

Dear student,

Here I solved the above problem.

By using rule of mixture we need to find strength of composite, and by using area we can find failure load / critical load.

Do you know?

Only method to alter elastic modulus of material is by making composite. No other treatments(alloying ....) are alter elastic modulus. This one you can see in rule of mixture equation.
