Question

(3) A survey is done to estimate the proportion of U.S. adults who think that texting while walking across an intersection in the crosswalk should be illegal (or at least punishable via fines). In the survey, 73% of 1025 randomly sampled U.S. adults said that this should be illegal. Prior survey results indicated that the percent of people against texting and walking through intersections was around 60%. (a) In performing one-sample hypothesis tests, would we use z or t in this situation? Briefly explain why you would use one instead of the other. (b) Is there sufficient evidence that the proportion of those US adults who are against texting while walking through intersections has changed? Conduct a hypothesis test. (c) State the kind of error could have been made in context of the problem.
