Sodium dodecanoate or sodium laurate is commonly called as soap. It has a water loving hydrophilic end that contains ionic sodium and water hating hydrophobic end consisting of hydrocarbon. This hydrophobic end interacts with oil particles to form a micelle. This micelle breaks down the oil particle. Soap dissolves in water due to the availability of hydrophilic end and micelle formation.
