In reference to project management, Hopefully, a company is successful in linking the projects to the strategy. Do you think there are times when the project would not help move towards the strategic goals? Why or why not?
Sometimes a good Project only relates itself to the tactical measures that are to be undertaken in executing the Project in an effective manner. However, in the process, the actually Strategic goals are disregarded wherein the Project goals supersede the same. In such a time, with change in the Business environment, when there is a call for the alterations of the Strategic goals, at times, the Project management fail to incorporate the same changes in its processes thereby not leading to any step nearer to the Strategic goals. Although it is to be noted that this is only the Traditional approach to Project management where the lack of alignment of the Project goals to that of the Strategic goals of the Organization, prove the Project to be inefficient in long run. In such situations, it is rather better to introduce the Balance Scorecard in the system. This shall help the Project to move to a desirable but uncertain strategic move in the future thereby ensuring its alignment to the strategic goals.
