What is software Standards? Importance and problems of software standards, are u in favor or against it?

Software standards are some rules, regulations, best practices and guidelines which ensures the reliability of the softwares, methods and services.
These software standards are developed through a consensus process in which many international agencies, industries/ organisations and professional societies are involved.
So these standards are minimally accepted practice and quality that must be observed.

The following are few examples of how different standards granting organisations publish different types of standards.

Below are some granting organisations of standards:

ISO: test methods, management systems, product, guideline, codes of practice
ASTM: test method, practice, specification, guide, terminology,
ANSI: basic, design, product, test methods, management systems, process, and others

ISO 13485:2016

Some are the importance of software standards:

• By adhering software standards, and organisation can make an efficient, effective and more sustainable software with reduced risk.
• By following the standards a product/ software can sustain in global market and can transfer technology to marketplace with some advance innovation and new technologies.
• Also can enhance healthy, safety, security and quality of life.
• Code or processes can be easily understandable to other associates and it will be easily maintainable by adhering software standards.
• Documentation related to the software may get clean, proper and easily understandable.

There are many more advantages of adhering the software standards.
We can take an easy example of Robotics engineering or Drones, if organisation will not following specific standards then can we imagine how disastrous these would be.

There are also some problems of adhering software standards, few are mentioned below:

• Since need to take approvals from different standards granting organisations become tedious and time consuming.
• Inter government issues which are major problems while following software standards since there are many discrepancies between sanctions of International organisation and local government of the country. So we can say that Interoperability issues always create problem.
• Since by taking approvals from different standards granting a huge amount is used by the organisations.

Similarly there could be many advantages and disadvatages of adhering such software standards.

Since advantages are much more so I am in favour of these Software standards.
Some more points for giving my favour are as under:

• Since every day new innovations and different product and softwares are coming in this competitive world, So, for maintaining some rules and regulations regarding these products, methods, and services , there should be some international organisations which can make a discipline for whole world by adhering some standards.
• Human life should not be in danger by emerging technologies if those technologies will follow some standards.
• Since discipline, rules and regulations are playing crucial role for developing the world in systematic way.
