Answer #1

Chinese mitten crab(Eriocheir sinensis) is a classical example of an invasisve species.

High dispersal ability is one factor that explains the sucess of this invasive species in colonizing new habitat. After introduction from Asia (mainly from China and Korea) to North America and Europe, it became an invasive species due to its high dispersal ability. Significant inland migration, even hundreds of miles from sea or ocean, and requirement of sweet water, salt water and brackish water at different stages of growth and reproduction has intrigued this dispersal ability and eventual invasion in foreign land by this crab species. This one factor contributes greatly for this invasive species from Asiatic waters to colonize sucessfully at North America and Europe.
