a )\lambda= xd/nL = ( 5 x 10^-2) (5.10 x 10^-5) / 3 (1.40)

\lambda = 6.07 x 10^ -7 m

b) distance between adjacent fringes= ( 6.07 x 10^ -7) (1.40 )/ (5.10 x 10^-5) = 1.67 x 10^-2 m
