Answer #1

The Shirley Jackson simbolized here is the tradition of 1948 America. The symbols become more clear when we understands that she is a women in the 1948 America. This made Shirley Jackson to find the longlasting traditions to be just as vile as those traditions in 'The Lottery'. Here in 'The Lottery' helps to illuminate clearly about the traditions which are difficult for someone who are not hurt by them. Lack of free voting rights or some of many other traditions are still exist. The author put herself symbollically in the place of the victim. Society blindly follows the traditions without looking for the reasons for that traditions even these traditions hurt its citizen. This is most of the societies faces. ' The Lottery' is filled with symbols and its more over a traditional story. The symbol is of the unquestioned rituals and traditions which drive our society.
