Of the provided scenarios (i.e.- swabbed countertop,
swabbed shoe bottom, swabbed washed hand, swabbed unwashed hand,
swabbed surface of a tree leaf, and swabbed with sterile broth) you
will hypothesize a ranking based on bacterial diversity present on
the plates. You will rank 4 of the scenarios and justify your
reasoning with a brief paragraph (3-5 sentences). You may use a
list to rank and the paragraph to justify. ***You must submit steps
1-3
Out of these samples: swabbed countertop, swabbed shoe bottom,
swabbed washed hand, swabbed unwashed hand, swabbed surface of a
tree leaf, and swabbed with sterile broth.
Then you are going to pick any 4 of the 7 to rank according to how
diverse the bacteria growing in each sample is. This again is a
thought experiment. You will not be right or wrong as long as you
provide good reasoning for why you think one sample will have more
bacterial diversity than another. Also, by diversity I mean the
number of different species (or noticeably different/unique colony
types). You can pick any 4 to rank and explain your
reasoning.
According to my intuition the following would be the order for swabbed surface microorganism diversity(top 4 as asked):-
1.)Surface of tree leaf
2.) Surface of Counter Top
3.)Shoe Bottom
4.) Unwashed Hand
My explanation for the following order:-
I placed tree leaf on top as it's a place where most of the flies and insects visit, also they are the ones to visit cattles,dogs,cats.,etc. As most of them are not washed so microorganisms diversity is maximum over there.
Now as countertop is a place where many people place there hand and all must be carrying some or other kind of microorganisms. So it comes second in the list.
As the shoe is subjected to various surfaces but cleaned before entering room so the extent of microorganisms is decreased significantly.
Unwashed hand is quite obvious for coming below all the aboveaabove the diversity of microorganisms which i might Carry is ought to be less than all above and more than washed hand and sterile broth(steriled so no or minimal microorganisms)
Of the provided scenarios (i.e.- swabbed countertop, swabbed shoe bottom, swabbed washed hand, swabbed unwashed hand,...
