Yes definitely personal selling is an art and there is no single equation that can evaluate it's effectiveness. I am working in sales department and previously worked in direct sales and my personal experience about the direct sales , while approaching customers few things mostly observed like customers always looking minimum price, customers never much focused on the direct sales and if customers satisfied then he will be never move from you. Attributes like easily negotiations, presentation and comparison possible with direct customers. Salesman is requiring to focus on customers and need Contentious follow up of customers and time to time giving the information of possible change. Sales person attributes is like improper communication, providing insufficient information and failed? to follow in proper ways that leads to no buy decisions.
