• Employees are now being provided with tools and opportunities to expand their potential, rather than be limited by long-standing definitions. Telecommuting will continue to become a popular option as work is redefined to take place virtually anywhere and not necessarily during traditional 9-to-5 office hours or inside four walls. Technology will play a major role in enabling this movement, not only with connected devices that bring employees into the office “space” from locations all over the globe but also with the advent of “bring your own device” (BYOD) initiatives.
• Technological changes have been the major trend today towards evolving employees roles.As and employee to be able to adpat to such a change of technology being used to define my working hours I need to be well equipped with technological skills and maintain a learner's attitude towards any new skill that needs to be learnt to stay upgraded at work and be available.Communication is very important,asking questions to my leaders regarding how telecommunting would work,would it have any adverse effect on me not being physically present in the office.Getting clear about my role is important and so for that connecting with the leaders is important.
• Also,since technological changes will make me work from a different place and not really by office,which could make my job easier,I still need to be constantly in touch with my colleagues.They need to know that I am responsible and getting the work done.
• I need to tell my employer that I am interested in staying current with technological changes in the field and would like to attend any trainings or workshops offered by the company. Alternatively, I would locate trainings offered outside the company and discuss the possibility of attending with my supervisor.
