In case the resistances are in series with the source, The Thevenin's equivalent voltage (Vth) will be same as Vs.

As, A and B are opened, so no current will flow form A to B, so no voltage drop across the Series resistors.

But in case to find the Thevenin's equivalent Resistance (Rth), It will be same as the equivalent of the series resistances connected with the voltage sources.

So, In the equivalent Thevenin's Circuit for series resistances, It affect the rest of the circuit as Rth is not Zero.

But For parallel resistances, It does not affect the rest of the circuit.
