Answer #1

Inerspersion in a very common sense focuses on gaining more attention by either making the content look good or projecting views creating mystery.

In a way, clickbait drives more clicks but at the same time, it does have audience engagement many times. Many social media algorithms actually reward clickbait streams because the content gets more likes, views, and comments. Sometimes those comments are negative too.

It would be naive of someone thinking that clickbait content is not read or viewed. Because for the majority it is not true.

Clickbait content is engaging too because people sometimes even want to share views on clickbait content. It also provides brand awareness in many cases. More engagement, more views, more shares, and likes or comments increase the level of audience or viewers’ reach. This is what interspersion does. It holds the power to make a dull speech or content interesting by using engaging anecdotes, personal likes, views, opinions, and dislikes. Without a doubt, audience retention and views could be negative but they can't help but engage more in such content.

In my personal opinion, trying "to keep accounting earnings growing at a relatively steady pace in an effort to avoid large swings in earnings from period to period" is manipulation. I think manipulation can be useful but I see red flags when I see the word "avoid"...
