a)Pentose phosphate pathway is also called phosphogluconate pathway which is parallel to glycolysis.It produces NADPH and ribose 5 phosphate.

NADPH and glucose is important for erythrocyte and liver respectively because NADPH is the specific source of reducing power that keeps the molecule glutathionine in reduce state.

NADPH is the reduced form of NADP that actively acts as ATP substitute for fatty acidsynthesis and steroids.

Liver uses glucose for ATP production to genenate energy.

B)Muscle tissues do not utilize ppp because glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase and 6 phosphogluconate dehydrogenase activity during ppp leads to increase in muscles leads to atrophy which is relatively unspecific leads to hereditary muscular dystrophy,muscle necrosis.
